Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Director of Real Property position is to have the responsibility for the Property Acquisition and Leasing Department for the University.

This position initiates and coordinates a large volume of diverse and wide-ranging real property transactions for the University. These transactions include acquisitions and dispositions of real property by lease, gift, purchase, exchange, sale and easement or user agreement.

The North Carolina A&T Real Estate Foundation, Inc. plays a vital role in assisting the University in the efficient acquisition of property for the benefit of the University in support of its Master Plan. This property is subsequently transferred to the University.

This position will work in partnership with the Real Estate Foundation to efficiently acquire these properties and transfer them to the University. This position is also responsible for the leasing of off-campus properties to meet departmental space needs that cannot be met in existing campus space.

This position must have a thorough understanding of the University's Strategic Plan, the University's Campus Master Plan, and Capital Improvement Plan with respect to real property development and campus expansion. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the real property goals of the University, and other appropriate functions as assigned.

Campus Enterprises consist of the following operations: Dining, Bookstore, Parking and Transportation Services, Aggie OneCard, Ticket Office, Mail Center, Snack and Beverage Vending, Laundry, Concession, Property Acquisition and Leasing.

Minimum Requirements
  • Masters with 3-5 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of relevant experience. Degrees preferably in Business Administration or Real Estate, completion of Real Estate Sales and Broker's coursework.
  • Advance professional work in the management, acquisition, and disposition of real property.
  • Work professionally and with a high degree of confidentiality to further the mission of the University with respect to campus expansion and property development.
  • Experience in the management of property including knowledge of renovation, upfit, scheduling and estimating.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Master's degree in Business Administration with five or more years of relevant experience (or equivalent education and experience) and Real Estate Certification/License Knowledge of State Real Estate policies and procedures.
Required License or Certification
State of NC Real Estate Brokers License
