Summary:
The Registered Nurse I, Home Health is an entry-level nursing role in a home health organization, intended for RNs in their first year of practice. The Registered Nurse performs a range of patient care assignments in a home setting under the direction of a physician and the direct oversight of an experienced Registered Nurse preceptor. Guidelines are available and provided under close supervision by the assigned Registered Nurse. Job duties are performed under the direction and guidance of a licensed Registered Nurse. Specific nursing duties requiring a license are not assigned or performed independently outside of the licensed Registered Nurse scope of practice.

Responsibilities:
Job Duties

Performs direct patient care activities under the direction, supervision, and delegation of a Registered Nurse. Responds to emergency health care needs of patients.
Collaborates with Registered Nurse for the assessment, analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing and patient care.
Collaborates with Registered Nurse to assess health care needs of patients through a variety of routine interdisciplinary assessments; and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing and health care plans accordingly.
Performs health screenings of patients or clients. Collects and records data specific to the health status of patients or clients.
Promotes and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
Instructs patients in treatment methods prescribed by medical practitioners or interdisciplinary treatment teams and as guided by more experienced peers.
Participates in interdisciplinary planning meetings and recommends changes in nursing and health care programs, and/or in the care of patients.
Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by orientation/skills checklist. Duties include but are not confined to:
-Administering IVs
-Wound care
-Updating plan of care
-Use of electronic medical records (EMR) system

Other information:
Required

Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states by the first day of clinical care.
Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personally owned vehicle, or access to another form of transit compatible with role's productivity standards
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
Experience working with electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool
Ability to stand or walk for duration of shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion

Preferred
Experience working with EPIC EMR
