Job Description Summary

Supervises multimedia technical equipment and support for the Benson University Center, University Activities Space, Manchester Plaza, and Zick's. Supports routine and special events in facilities. Works with event hosts to determine and facilitate audio/visual technical needs. Trains a team of undergraduate students to assist with support and event management. Coordinates inventory, maintenance, and repair of equipment with IS Multimedia.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the use of audiovisual equipment in the Benson University Center, University Activities Space, Manchester Plaza, and Zick's. Includes installed and portable audio systems, projectors and screens.

  • Performs preventive maintenance and testing of all multimedia systems to include maintaining an accurate inventory database.

  • Collaborates with Information Systems Multimedia on repairs, purchases and equipment upgrades.

  • Trains undergraduate student employees and professional staff members on the operation of and troubleshooting multimedia systems.

  • Meets with event hosts to determine how to meet their multimedia needs within the capacity of the facility and day-of support.

  • Responsible for on-site multimedia event support with the assistance of student employees. Works with Campus Programs and Services staff to schedule student employees.

  • Maintains documentation of equipment upgrades, event notes, and training records.

  • Consults with outside contractors hired by event hosts to provide advanced technical productions.

  • Availability to work evenings and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Associates degree plus 1-3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Applies advanced knowledge of the job to complete routine and non-routine assignments; comprehensive understanding of technical aspects of the job

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, and ability to deal effectively with students, faculty and staff as well as peers and management.

  • Ability to identify service, technical, and training needs, analyze growth requirements, keep current on system changes and updates, implement changes as appropriate.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to supervise student employees.

  • Must have good troubleshooting/problem solving skills in electronics.

  • Ability to work in high pressure situations as well as a working familiarity with multimedia system design, video conferencing systems, and systems integration.

  • Knowledge of electrical safety.

  • Should be able to meet requirements of the University's automobile insurance.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Operation of hand and power tools.

  • Basic Network understanding.

  • Basic audio engineering.

  • Microsoft office tools to include Excel and Word.

  • AMX programming software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Subject to inside/outside environmental conditions.

  • Frequently in close quarters, and subject to hazards
