Description

A vital position for our success in the region, the Director of Market Development (DMD) is expected to lead the team, grow our business, and develop the staff within the market. The position is accountable for developing and executing the overall strategy for the Triad. The DMD will identify and implement plans to grow our business, define and refine project delivery processes, create and implement tools and best practices to improve the productivity and efficiency of the team and work with the Regional President to identify and capitalize on market synergies and share best practices.

The DMD also holds formal reporting responsibility for the sales, customer service, and design teams based in the Triad market.

This role is based in the Triad and works out of our showroom in Colfax, NC. The territorial responsibility includes Central NC including Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point. The DMD reports to the Regional President based in Charlotte, NC.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute business strategies and assign and manage resources for project pursuits. Leverage and direct company resources for Marketing, Workplace Strategy, and A/D representation for the needs of the Triad market.
  • Establish and monitor continuous team training and development.
  • Establish performance standards and goals for individual team members and hold team members accountable to perform to those standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and monitor business development activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with MillerKnoll market leadership and key open lines.
  • Create the overall market strategy to prioritize leads and potential targets and develop the plan to establish relationships with end users, owner's representatives, architects, developers, and general contractors.
  • Evaluate and coordinate each team member's strengths and weaknesses to ensure the best possible team outcomes and deployment of each team member to the best of his/her abilities.
  • Participate in market goal setting and define overall success for the market territory.
  • Report regularly on the progress of strategy implementation, goals, and overall market development to leadership.
  • Promote teamwork and employee morale.
  • Coordinate internal teams and monitor projects to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Develop relationships with key business leaders in the Triad.
Qualifications
  • 3 + years of industry experience, preferred.
  • Capable of working independently and as the leader of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment.
  • Excellent time management, self-management, and self-motivation.
  • Involved in community activities.
  • Experience in leading teams and complex (B to B) sales.
