Primary Purpose of Position | North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University seeks an experienced network security administrator to join the core network management team. The successful candidate will have significant experience with firewalls, VPN systems, IDS/IPS, and related technologies, a solid foundation in network security, and a grasp of security standards such as ISO 27002 or NIST SP800-171. The administrator will join a growing team in support of university operations and will participate in network security operations and incident management. Remote and hybrid work options are available, but the successful candidate must be able to work on campus as required. The Network Security Administrator provides the technical expertise to manage network firewalls, network fabric profiles, virtual private network (VPN) systems, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other tools used to separate and control access to network resources. The administrator plays a critical role in vulnerability management and ensures timely identification and remediation of network security issues. This position works with IT leaders and technical staff to coordinate services, configurations, security, and upgrades to provide a high performance and secure network for the entire university. The administrator reports to the Director of Network and System Administration and is a key member of the department and the Information Technology Services (ITS) operations and security teams as well as the division's technical staff. |
