Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of the Division of Student Success is to work in partnership with the University community to deliver high quality services to facilitate the recruitment, retention and graduation of a diverse student population and strive to provide service, leadership, and transitional student support for UNCG. The Division of Student Success is committed to designing, implementing, and providing the services necessary to promote student success throughout the entire student life cycle from day one to diploma. This division includes the offices of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, University Advising, New Student Transitions & First Year Experience, Students First Office, Academic Achievement Center, TRiO Programs, UNCG Guarantee, GEAR UP UNCG, and the Multiliteracy Centers (Speaking Center, Writing Center, and Math Help Center).

Position Summary
UNCG has a Transfer-Friendly Campus Culture that recognizes the diversity they bring to campus and actively integrates them into campus life. This position will provide support to UNCG's efforts to improve the transfer student experience and partnerships with area Community Colleges. The Assistant Director for Transfer Initiatives is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position. The person in this position works collaboratively with colleagues campus-wide in order to improve transfer articulation practices including annual reviews of Baccalaureate Degree Plans and established Articulation Agreements as well as facilitating new agreements and degree pathways.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in higher education required, or a Bachelor's degree and an equivalent amount of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with serving transfer students, managing transfer student services, and working with or at a North Carolina Community College.
  • Experience with transfer articulation.
  • Experience with data interpretation and reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, desire to work in a team-oriented environment, experience working with multiple constituencies, and ability to collaborate with a diverse staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize time-sensitive tasks with competing timelines.
  • Commitment to professional development and opportunities to grow as UNCG seeks to distinguish itself as a first-choice destination for transfer students.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
NC Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's in higher education administration, curriculum and instruction, or other relevant degree is preferred.
