Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Department provides experiences for students to become leaders in TR and related professions. The TR Department is specifically designed for students who wish to enter the profession of TR as well as to prepare for graduate study in related allied health and human service fields. Graduates meet the requirements to apply for certification by the National Council for TR Certification and licensure by the state of North Carolina. |

Minimum Experience/Education | Applicants must have a current recreation therapy license in the state of North Carolina (see NC Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure.) Other requirements include a minimum of a Master's degree in a related discipline and teaching experience at the college level. |

Instructor must also ensure syllabus, learning outcomes, learning activities and assessments meet program and university standards. Instructor may be asked to collaborate with Therapeutic Recreation Department faculty in some areas such as program assessment. |
