Primary Purpose of Position | The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate-level nutritional sciences (community nutrition) courses, conducting research, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting research and scholarly activities, and all other activities required for tenure. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment, and service to the Department, College, and University as needed. Instructional * Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers. * Prepare and deliver instruction online or in-person to undergraduate and graduate students. * Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. * Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. * Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others. * Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. * Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. * Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. Research * Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations and conferences. * Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media. Administrative * Collaborate with members of the business community to improve programs, develop new programs, and provide student access to learning opportunities such as internships. * Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work. * Develop and maintain course websites. * Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues. * Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities. * Participate in campus and community events. * Act as an adviser to student organizations. |

Primary Function of Organizational Unit | North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has a rich history of innovation and application of cutting-edge technology. From our pioneering Laboratory Animal Science and Landscape Architecture programs to our award-winning Cooperative Extension and Agricultural Research programs, our faculty and staff serve today's needs while keeping an eye on the future. With programs and expertise in such areas as biotechnology, agricultural and biosystems engineering, natural resources management, waste management, and food microbiology, the A&T College of Agriculture grows concurrently with the demand for qualified graduates. Our four academic departments are the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education; the Department of Animal Sciences; the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design. Within these departments, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, research and field work. Through our Agricultural Research Program and our Cooperative Extension Program, we are able to research issues of importance to North Carolina and also provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world. |
Minimum Requirements | Doctorate (completed by date of appointment) in nutritional sciences or closely related field from an accredited university, demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in nutritional sciences (community nutrition) with a minimum of 3 years, successful strong technology skills, documented record of scholarly achievement and grant writing experience. |
