Utility Management Consultant

HDR has an opportunity for a Utility Management Consultant to join our Water Business Group team in Charlotte or Winston-Salem, NC. The primary duties of the Utility Management Consultant include working with project managers/senior consultants to perform specialized engineering consulting services in areas that may include: utility management/asset management, business process assessments, strategic planning, operations optimization, regulatory support, utility master planning, technology selection and data management/visualization. The Utility Management Consultant will implement a range of best management practices with water, wastewater, and/or stormwater utilities including asset management and maintenance management best practices. The Utility Management Consultant will provide technical support for the implementation of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and enterprise asset management systems (EAMS) to support a water, wastewater, or stormwater utility. The Utility Management Consultant will perform analysis of large utility maintenance management systems, and/or condition assessment databases to support inspection, condition assessment, and planning programs.

The Utility Management Consultant will be expected to perform database assessments and analysis, GIS analysis, computer programming, and/or desire to implement information systems and technology solutions to support infrastructure planning. The ideal candidate should have experience with planning and implementation of infrastructure inspection and condition assessment programs; planning and implementation of asset management strategies for utilities. The ideal candidate will be able to lead project or tasks associated with business process analysis, workshop facilitation and data warehouse design. They will also be expected to direct production staff and perform client management activities to support our South Atlantic Area based team.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
  • MS or PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Requires 3 years of combined experience in water and/or wastewater utility consulting experience or university research
  • Experience with software requirement gathering and development, selecting business information system solutions and software implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Requires excellent communication, business skills, team building, and project team skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and present summary level information.
  • Ability to obtain, cleanse, merge and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Strong computer skills with CMMS, GIS, and other various database type platforms is preferred.
  • Self-starter with proven track record of accomplishments.
