Job Title: Overhead Crane Technician
Perform approved Preventive Maintenance Procedures on facility equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor via approved work order.
Perform crane safety and maintenance inspections per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179.
Perform variable repairs - troubleshoot to determine root cause of failure and appropriate corrective maintenance - as assigned by the site supervisor via approved work order.
Maintain all maintenance records of all work; inspections, maintenance, repairs, relocations and modifications for in house maintenance (Client staff), self-performed (By Viox) and subcontracted (Vendors) work
Support other Viox Associates with work orders or routine maintenance, as needed
Performs any other duties as deemed necessary by the site manager and/or Client
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
COMPETENCIES
Crane Mechanic and Inspector Competency:
* Be able to read schematics, blue prints, and document changes or modifications.
* Possess working knowledge of variety of overhead crane (Hoist, Jib, Gantry Boom, Bridge, Monorail) types and their components
* Be able to perform all standard safety precautions as applied to cranes and their operations (inspection safety guidelines, Lock Out/Tag Out, Fall Protection. Shutdown conditions, Rated Load Tests, Safety Spotters/Barriers)
* Ability to dismantle and reassemble crane/hoist equipment and components
* Knowledge and ability to work with controls and control devices
* Be able to plan and schedule work at two primary locations - Norwood and Asheboro, NC
* Be able to safely travel to and from duty locations
* Respond on-short notice and after normal duty hours to emergency repairs
Perform Preventative Maintenance:
* Inspect and determine operations condition of equipment.
* Perform maintenance as required in approved specification
* Recommend changes to specification and/or additional maintenance actions
Perform Crane Safety and Maintenance Inspections:
* Inspect equipment in accordance with OSHA 1920.179.
* Document, organize, and maintain inspection and maintenance records
* Coordinate third party inspections
Practical applications:
* Repair following the standard by applying a formalized and rational method, requires little initiative.
* To be able to methodically implement all this knowledge in the shop floor environment.
Perform Trouble Shooting and Corrective Maintenance:
* Disassemble/Reassemble equipment
* Determine Root Cause of equipment failure
* Make appropriate repairs to address cause of failure

* To be able to situate himself in his work environment.
* To be able to apply his skills in relation to shop work.
* To be able to comply with a predefined communication protocol - to be informed or to inform.
* Knowledge: structure and mission of the being provided.
* To be able to correspond with the appropriate personnel in the shop domain
